INDEPENDENT FABRICATION

 
 
Independent Fabrication is located in the former site of Fat City Cycles, a mountain bike producer that closed in 1994. Former workers banded together and decided to start their own company using the abandoned factory in 1995.


Since then, Independent Fabrication has designed and built bikes that have become very popular within the cycling world.


Independent Fabrication is a worker cooperative in a traditionally capitalist run market. They have survived and continued to grow their business due to their attention to detail and unmatched creativity, all the while maintaining the democratic practices inherent to worker cooperatives.
