9-5 : National Association for Working Mothers -founded by a group of women who came together to talk about a variety of issues, including sexual harassment, work/family challenges, and pay equity. This national organization is dedicated to putting working women’s issues on the public agenda. 9to5's constituents are low-wage women, women in traditionally female jobs, and women who experienced any form of discrimination that have hindered them from working.

National Association for Female Executives - the largest women's professional association and women business owners' organization in the country. This association empowers its members via resources and services for career success and financial security. It provides education, networking, and public advocacy among other help.

Equal Rights Advocates - the ERA's mission is to "to protect and secure equal rights and economic opportunities for women and girls through litigation and advocacy," this includes eradicating illegal discriminatory practices that deny women advancement opportunities, equal compensation, and access to certain occupations. The ERA is outspoken in supporting women who are discriminated against.

National Committee on Pay Equity - is a coalition of women's and civil rights organizations, labor unions, religious, professional, legal, and educational associations, state and local pay equity coalitions and individuals who are united in working to achieve pay equity and eliminate sex and race based wage discrimination.

Corporate Voices for Working Families - leading national business membership organization that represents private sector voices in dialogue surrounding public policy issues related to working families. Over 70 percent of its partner companies are listed in Fortune 500. All of its partner companies share leadership positions in developing family support policies for their respective workforces.

Mothers and Caregivers Economic Rights - also known as National Organization for Women, works to "to eliminate discrimination and harassment in the workplace, schools, the justice system, and all other sectors of society" to promote equality and justice in our society.

MomsRising - an organization that has a "goal of bringing millions of people, who all share a common concern about the need to build a more family-friendly America," by working against trends that mothers are paid unfairly and are less likely to be hired than equally qualified non-mothers.

 
 
 

 

Sexual Harassment

Sexual Discrimination. How you can recognize it, and what you can do if you are unfairly discriminated against.

Equal Employment Opportunity Commission - a website in which you can learn about the EEOC and related issues. This site includes statistics, general litigation basics, and simple, yet clear, informational materials.

  1. Types of Discrimination - contains information about all the different types and expressions of discrimination; and what options are available to you in the event that you are discriminated against.
    • Sexual Harassment Support - this is a very detailed and personal outline of sexual harassment. The website includes actual scenarios to help individuals identify different forms of sexual discrimination, and also includes information for support groups and help-lines for anyone who is being sexually harassed.
  2. What you can do - how to file a charge of discrimination, and important information on whom to contact

Ongoing Lawsuits:

Discrimination at Wal-Mart - the website of detailing the current efforts of Wal-Mart women employees against the discrimination they faced while working at Wal-Mart.
